Friday morning’s show was a flurry of activity. Rockers Evolver One were in studio en masse bright and early this morning to chat about a few of their most recent tracks, andit must be said that they are a most agreeable bunch of gentlemen. From an agreeable bunch of gentlemen we switched over to a Skype call with South Africa’s pre-eminent groove doctors, Goldfish, from their current headquarters in sunny Ibiza. Right on cue, New York comic Ian Bagg waltzed in studio and kicked off by denouncing all things un-Canadian. You should definitely make a point of checking out his vibe at the Nandos Comedy Fest, Baxter Theatre, this evening.

Ian Bagg and the gang. And a gnome.

Sox’s afternoon show featured the likes of up and coming Cape Town DJ, Chris Jack, swimsuit and lingerie model, Lisa Cowley, and comic Malcolm Ferreira, better known to the general public as Jan, Player 23.

Soxy, Malcolm, and the Donkey

An unusually tall Sox and Lisa

Look, tomorrow’s the Premier Show, it being Friday and all. So to prevent you from freaking out, let’s introduce our studio guest line-up one by one, shall we?
Evolver One
The Parlotones’ Kahn Morbee
Goldfish phone-in from Ibiza
New York Comic Ian Bagg
So that’s it, Kids. We can’t do more than that in fur hours.
Although what happens in DJ Sox’s afternoon slot is anyone’s guess. Did I hear rumours of a Mark Boucher studio appearance? No, I couldn’t have. Not after Proteas captain Graeme Smith popped in last week for a little chat…

Today was a less frantic session in the studio than yesterday’s show, but only mildly. Musician Justin Bergh had the pleasure of playing the first live song to be broadcast on 2oceansvibe Radio, after Ard Matthews of Just Jinjer missed a trick a few weeks back by busking outside. Energy levels shot up a level or five after Rob van Vuuren, whose CV includes entries like: Winner of Strictly Come Dancing, being Twakkie from The Most Amazing Show, Presenter of SA’s Got Talent, and accomplished stand up comic and thespian. Not a bad vibe you’ve got going there, Rob. As you can imagine, much mirth was to be had. But as they say on the interwebs, if there aren’t any pictures, it didn’t happen. So be sure to scroll down. The Spling was also in studio to give his opinion of the newly-released Salt, starring Angelina Jolie.
Rich, Seth, Gnomie, and Rob (not wearing the red hat)
The Bergh, killing it live.
So there you have it. We’re keeping it tidy this side, are you.

Well, it’ll be hard to improve on our performance today, what with a former Springbok rugby captain (Bob Skinstad), G-Man and two bikini clad, twin sister models (Rox and Simone from the Sanlam ad and the Locnville music video) in the studio.

The Twins – maxing and relaxing in the studio..
(That’s Brendan, our St. Bernard, chilling on the left..)
But we don’t do half measures here at 2oceansvibe Radio. So we’ve gone one better than bikini clad models, and brought in Rob Van Vuuren, AKA Twakkie of The Most Amazing Show. And he’s a most amazing man, let me tell you. Muso Justin Bergh will also be dropping by to shoot the breeze, and our in-house cinema connoisseur, the Spling will be giving a rundown of film chatter and must-see films, giving you the window that you need to tee up the all-important first date at the movies. So tune in. It’ll be quite radical, we can assure you. <*Poof!*>

Happy Spring Day, gang! The outside outside was frightful, but the vibe in the studio quite delightful…Not my best? Sure. In any event, things were happy sunshine and good vibrations in the studio this morning, as we broke out the beach towels, picnic baskets, and tanning beds here in the studio. If you’d plugged in to the studio web cam you may have noticed that we didn’t stop short of a few inanimate studio decorations. No, we had real, life, bikini-clad, twin sister models on said inanimate decorations. I can hear Jack Parow shouting “Hosh Ja!” from across town right now. On a side note, Bib Skinstad popped in to chat about his Bobs For Good Foundation and the upcoming BFG charity Spring Ball, and G-Man was once again in resedence to school us on the particulars of ACDC.
We’re throwing the horns over here at the 2OV Radio studio.

The horses bolted early during today’s show, with the Lesbian Moment(TM) passing within the first half an hour. But that was more or less appropriate, given that the rest of the time was spent on ultra-manly activities, like spinning a little Dylan vinyl on our Rega record player, and giving away three double tickets to the A-King gig in Willowbridge. Oh you didn’t know anyone had the freedom to play vinyl on broadcast radio? Standard stuff really. At least, on 2oceansvibe Radio, that is.

Today’s show featured none other than Ryan “Pie” Scott, otherwise known as Brendan Venter from Invictus. Brendan, err, Pie gave us the sports spice in his best sporting actor voice. Doctor D was in studio for yet more chat around all matters sexual in nature, and Badu dropped by for a recap on the damage done to the nation’s collective psyche following yet another week of Idols.
It’s a slow start to the week, but that’s our vibe here. We ease you in to the week so that you can handle that thing called “work”, building up to the Friday show. You know the Friday show? The one we do like this?
Not sure if you know that guy.

Or him.

Twins, Basil!

Twins!

And then this guy dropped round a little later, I think he’s sort of famous.

Either way, he couldn’t keep away from our wall. What’s with that?

And he seems to be pretty keen on DJ Sox…

That’s just how we roll here at 2oceansvibe.
You’ll be tuning in tomorrow, right?

Tomorrow is Monday my darlings. I know. Ssh, ssh. There there. Daddy will make it better. He’ll make it better with soothing music therapy, vinyl therapy, sex therapy, Idols Update therapy, and all manner of goodness, including ridiculous give-aways, call-ins and competitions. It’s obscene, I know. But so was Rome, and they enjoyed themselves, didn’t they? Sure they did, but they didn’t have a little thing I coined, “The Internet”. It’s going to take us places, I’m telling you. And if you tune in to 2OV Radio tomorrow – South Africa’s first mainstream online radio station – we’ll take you places. Like Funky Town, for instance.
So go ahead. Tune in to the holiday.
Oh, did we mention we will be playing the NEW GOLDFISH SINGLE, “Get Busy Living?!”
That’s right – you heard me..

Cafe Caprice
Ladies and gents, we present veteran music magician DJ Sox’ debut show on 2oceansvibe Radio. Sox has long been part of the vibe as the resident Sunday evening DJ at our beloved Cafe Caprice, and on that note he’s taken up the mantle of leading us smoothly into the weekend, riding on the wave of awesomeness generated by the morning’s Premier Friday Show.
And what a start it was. Proteas cricket captain Graeme Smith was in studio with his boys, and well, judge for yourself. Let’s just say that Soxy did NOT disappoint.
